August SHARE Center Update

The CHIA was launched in 2012 and nearly 20K students, professors and industry professionals have received this industry recognized stamp of approval.  On Thursday August 27, we will be hosting a “SHARE Center happy hour around the globe” celebration where we will be recognizing professors who are offering the CHIA and CAHTA certification training to their students.  We will also be recognizing schools, partner organizations and special people who have played major supporting roles.  There will be three different events for different time zones:

We hope that you will be able to join us for this event.  In keeping with our “5:00 somewhere” theme, feel free to dress accordingly and “bring your own beverage”.  We appreciate your involvement with the SHARE Center and the opportunity to work together with you to promote hospitality and tourism education.   As always, let us know if we can assist in any way.

Updates

Online CHIA and CAHTA – Early this year, we adapted the CHIA and CAHTA certification training to a totally online format, including videos and everything a professor needs to make this an easy and educational experience.  We appreciate the dramatic increase in the spring and summer, including many schools who are using the programs to offer a virtual internship alternative.  We have another round of virtual train-the-trainer sessions starting 18 August for the CHIA and 22 September for the CAHTA.

Virtual Market Study Competition – We have 31 schools registered for the virtual Market Study Competition this fall, including many new schools from new countries.  The virtual format will allow us to add some unique improvements.  Registration closes on 4 September.

Research Roundtables – There will be a series of roundtable sessions during the week of 12 October focused on promoting hospitality and tourism research.  We will provide an “industry in recovery” update, review recent hot topics and brainstorm on post-COVID research opportunities. We will also introduce participants to new types of STR data.  There will be different sessions for different topics and time zones.
