The Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS), is proud to host the Annual CAUTHE Conference in the Sydney CBD, February 8-11, 2016. This conference will provide a good mix of great academic debate, cutting edge paper presentations and fun social events. We have three excellent Keynote Speakers; Mr. Simon McGrath, Chief Operating Officer for Accor Pacific; Professor Susanne Becken, Professor of Sustainable Tourism at Griffith University and Director of the Griffith Institute for Tourism; and Ms. Tammy Marshall, Chief Operating Officer at TFE Hotels. We also have three excellent social functions planned including the Conference Dinner aboard the Blue Room, one of Sydney’s premiere Dinner Cruises. Please visit the website for more details. 

The CAUTHE 2016 conference theme is The Changing Landscape: The Impact of Emerging Markets and Destinations. As the number of travellers from emerging markets continues to rise, and the number of “new” destinations develop, the tourism and hospitality industry is faced with a rapidly changing demand for the products and services that are offered.

Type of Papers

Full Research Papers:

Papers submitted in this category are those where research work or conceptual or theoretical development is complete. Authors should submit a paper between 4000-5000 words (including references, tables and figures), to be double blind reviewed by two referees nominated by the Scientific Committee. All papers must be original submissions that have not already been published.

Full Research Papers submission: 2 October 2015

Please note:Papers submitted in this category and nominated by the referees are eligible for entry into the ‘CAUTHE Award for Best Full Paper’. Details regarding this Award can be found on the CAUTHE website.

Papers submitted in this category by a PhD student on work derived from his or her study, are eligible for nomination by the referees for the ‘Bill Faulkner Memorial Award for Best PhD Paper’. Please note that the student has to be the primary author and the only acceptable co-authors are the student’s registered supervisors. Further details regarding this Award can be found on the Awards section of the CAUTHE website: Best PhD Scholar’s Paper.

Working Papers:

Working papers are those for which a substantial amount of the research work or conceptual or theoretical development is complete. Authors should submit a paper of between 1500-2000 words (including references, tables, figures). All working papers will be double blind reviewed by one referee nominated by the Scientific Committee. All papers must be original submissions that have not already been published.

Please note:That the submission and selection of a paper is an indication of a commitment to attend the conference. If a paper is selected at least one author must attend the CAUTHE 2016 Conference to present the paper.

Presenting your PaperThose authors whose full and working research papers are accepted will have the opportunity to present their work in either an oral or visual presentation format via the Ideas Factory (see below). Depending on the availability of concurrent paper sessions, however, the Scientific Committee may need to consider some working papers for the Ideas Factory.

Oral papers will be allocated 20 minutes each (15 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions). Each Concurrent Session will be Chaired. If delegates are interested in Chairing concurrent sessions at CAUTHE 2016, please contact [email protected].

** ALL papers, regardless of the presentation format or whether they are full research or working papers, will be published in the Edited CAUTHE 2016 Conference Proceedings, which will have a dedicated ISBN.

Visual Presentations

Visual presentations will be held in an Ideas Factory, with opportunity to discuss work one-on-one in a creative presentation environment. The Ideas Factory provides delegates the opportunity to present research in visual rather than the traditional oral presentation. An award will be made for the best visual presentation. Visual presentations can take many forms. While many presenters will choose to present a standard poster, other options include demonstrations, video presentations or models and displays. Paper Submission Guidelines

Submit papers to: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=cauthe2016. If you have not previously created an Easy Chair account you will be required to do so prior to submitting the paper. Paper formatting guidelines can be found on the CAUTHE 2016 Conference Website.

When you submit your paper you will be asked to sign an agreement about the use of the paper. This is called a ‘Transfer of Copyright Agreement’ form. Essentially this agreement states that you give CAUTHE copyright over the paper, but in return, CAUTHE gives you permission to disseminate copies of your paper, or to rework/develop your paper and submit it elsewhere for publication, with acknowledgement to the publisher of the origins of the paper, namely that it was based on a paper presented at the CAUTHE 2016 conference. The Transfer of Copyright Agreement can be found on the CAUTHE 2016 Conference Website.
