CAUTHE PhD Scholar Representative and new student initiatives
March 20, 2018
The CAUTHE Executive is delighted to announce that Ms Daria Soldatenko, Federation University Australia, has accepted the role as PhD student representative to join the Committee as a co-opted member to canvass and represent the views of CAUTHE student members on matters relating to CAUTHE business. A number of new initiatives are planned, including a pilot program in 2018 with one of our kindred associations, SMAANZ, which will include two HDR webinars and the joint hosting of a mid-year PhD conference.
Joint initiatives with SMAANZ
Webinars
Two webinars will jointly hosted in March and September on topics of broad interest to the student membership of CAUTHE and SMAANZ. The first webinar will be held on Wednesday 28 March at 3-4pm on the topic: HDRs and social media: Why, how to get started, build your profile, and tweet it up. Guest speakers on the topic are Dr. Ashleigh Thompson, Lecturer, La Trobe University and Kim Encel, PhD Candidate, Deakin University. To register please contact Katherine Raw, SMAANZ Student Representative at [email protected].
Mid-year PhD Conference
A full-day HDR conference will be held on Friday 20 July 2018 in Brisbane, after each association’s mid-year meeting (on Thursday 19 July). The conference program will also be of broad interest to the HDR membership of CAUTHE and SMAANZ. More information to come.
Other activities
Other ideas to increase the engagement of CAUTHE’s PhD scholars include the establishment of an online blog and a student webpage on the CAUTHE website. In addition, Daria will assist with the development of the Annual PhD workshop to be held prior to the CAUTHE 2019 conference.
Daria is keen to hear from you if you have ideas or issues you would like to contribute by email at [email protected].
