SMAANZ HDR conference at Victoria University Melbourne

SMAANZ will again be running a one day HDR conference at the Victoria University city campus, Melbourne from 9am until 5pm on Friday 7 July 2017. The day will consist of student presentations and a keynote session by Professor Russell Hoye from La Trobe University. The day is free for SMAANZ HDR members or $40 for non-members (which includes a SMAANZ membership). Food will be provided. Please note that attendance at this conference is conditional on presenting. The day is free for SMAANZ HDR members or $40 for non-members (which includes a SMAANZ membership).

Keynote

So you want to be a sport management academic? Professor Russ Hoye, PVC (Research Development) at La Trobe University, will cover the five keys to developing an academic career in the contemporary Higher Education system – how to navigate the university sector, tips on effective curriculum development and delivery, how to carve out a research agenda, steps to building effective industry partnerships and advice on the why and how of effective collaboration.

Presentations

HDR students will each give a 10-minute presentation, and then receive constructive feedback from academics and their fellow students. This presentation could be a practice for the annual conference, a journal article/thesis chapter, or if you’re in the early stages of a Masters/PhD, you could present your proposed project. This is an opportunity to develop your presentation skills in a friendly and welcoming environment, and to get feedback from external sources.
