2016 Mid-year meeting, TH&E standards & PhD scholar events

The CAUTHE Mid-year meeting, TH&E standards calibration and peer-review workshop and PhD panel event will be hosted by the University of Queensland.

Date: Friday 5 August

Venue: Toowong Rowing Club 37 Keith Street St Lucia Qld (within walking distance of the University of Queensland).

    • PhD Panel session and networking event
      This session will involve a panel of experts including Professor Brent Ritchie (University of Queensland) and Dr Peter Lugosi (Oxford School of Hospitality Management, UK), followed by a networking event to allow PhD scholars to meet old and new acquaintances and network with the academics.
    • Building a College of Peers: calibration and peer-review workshop
      The workshop will be held in Room 430, Level 4 Joyce Ackroyd Bldg, (Building 37) St Lucia Campus, University of Queensland. Presented by Sara Booth (University of Tasmania, by SKYPE) and Paul Whitelaw (William Angliss Institute), the workshop will include discussion about:

      • Comparing learning outcomes and assessment in final year capstone (AQF 7) units across different providers and different countries
      • Aligning the external peer review to the Tourism, Hospitality and Events Threshhold Learning Outcomes (TLOs)
      • Identifying areas of good practice, areas for improvement and areas for sharing
      • Mapping out the next phase of the benchmarking process

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

Parking and access

There is ample free car parking available at the front of the Toowong Rowing Club. For public transport, the venue is a 500m walk from the Queensland University CityCat river ferry terminal. All facilities are fully wheelchair accessible.

Social dinner

You are also welcome to join us for dinner the evening prior to the meeting at the Bavarian Bier Cafe, Eagle St Pier, Brisbane (relaxed and informal, with great city views and good food) on Thursday 4 August at 6:30 for 7:00pm (each to their own, no split bills).
